Let’s Take A Moment Day 454

Hi everyone.  Hope you are all well and continue to stay that way during this global health crisis we are facing.  But in addition to protecting your physical wellness, what are you doing to stay mentally healthy today?

I know we are still facing a serious situation but a new year gives us hope for the new days, seasons, opportunities & moments ahead. Still, music is something that will never change for me. It is my refuge, the most comforting part of my life & the one thing I consistently count on. So until a more normal semblance of life returns, I am going to share a song I listen to that helps me escape the current state of things, if only for a few minutes each day. And if this helps anyone else, even better.

I have a soft spot in my heart for crooners and today’s singer is the reason why. No one did it like Dino Paul Crocetti, who was born on June 7, 1917 in Ohio. Whether he sang in Italian or English, whether he performed alone or with the other members of The Rat Pack or whether I watched him in his TV specials or on the big screen in movies like “Rio Bravo”, “Birds Do It” or “Airport”, Dean Martin was an entertainer in every sense of the word.

Today’s song, originally titled “T’ho voluto bene” (“I love you so much”) was one of my Grandma Mary’s favorite songs. Thanks to her, I grew up with this man’s voice in my life. And what an immeasurable gift that was.

Please do not forget that our lips have met
And I held you tight dear
Was it dreams ago?
My heart felt this glow only just tonight dear”.

Stay well.

Christmas Song Of The Day #5

Hello there, Vixens!!!  Hope you are all doing well!!!  Is it cold where you live?  Here in my part of New England, it feels more like September than December!!!  But I am still keeping my fingers crossed that somehow we will have a white Christmas, even if it’s only a dusting of snow!!!  🙂  While I wait, let me share another of my favorite Christmas songs with you.

Like a lot of people, most of the very warm memories I have from my childhood and those Christmases are about my family.  My maternal grandmother was a big fan of the King of Cool himself, Dean Martin (did I mention I am from an Italian family???)  “Dino”, as he was affectionately nicknamed, did it all:  he was a singer, an actor (he was in one of my favorite “Airport” movies), half of a comedy duo (his partner was Jerry Lewis), hosted great TV specials and those hilarious celebrity roasts!!!

There are so many songs of his that I love:  “That’s Amore“, “Volare“, “Everybody Loves Somebody“, “Return To Me” and “Non Dimenticar” to name a few.  But I love his Christmas recordings just as much.  My favorite?  “Let It Snow“.  It’s fun, easy to sing along to, and it’s Dean.  Enough said (or written, as the case is LOL).  So for my Grandma Mary and all of you, enjoy!!!
